If you’re not familiar with the meaning of the number 101 as it is used in the title of this blog post, it is a designation in some schools meaning that this is an introduction to the topic—in this case, an introduction to the usage and technical attributes of the fastest dispensing technology ever offered, the Piezo Jet Valve.
But, frankly, there are several other numbers that, taken together, can give you a quick statistical introduction to the power and speed of the Piezo Jet Valve. Here are a few of them:
- 1500, as in the Piezo Jet Valve can deliver shots at 1500 times per second on a continuous basis;
- 2000, as in the Piezo Jet Valve can deliver bursts as high as 2000 Hz when even higher throughput is needed;
- 20, as in this is some 20 times faster than other commonly used dispensing solutions such as the auger valve or time/pressure valve;
- 2, as in the Piezo Jet Valve is twice as fast as even the Pneumatic Jet Valve, an older type of Jet dispensing technology;
- .5, as in .5 nanoliter, the tiny size at which the Piezo Jet Valve can deliver small dots of material at these incredible speeds; and, one more,
- 97, as in the impressive 97% accuracy rate that can be achieved at these speeds as well.
When it comes to speed, choose #1
All of these numbers add up to one thing for your operation—the potential for a truly revolutionary increase in your throughput.
So how does the Piezo Jet Valve achieve speeds that leave every other dispensing technology out there in the dust? Two things really.
First of all, since jet valves shoot the fluid onto the substrate without the need for direct contact, they eliminate altogether the extremely time-consuming Z-axis of movement, with the needle not needing to move up and down and up and downtime and time again. Jet valves instead shoot the material from a fixed location—and, as noted, do so with an extreme degree of accuracy.
Of course, this is pretty much true also of the older jet technology, the pneumatic jet valve.
The Piezo Jet Valve operates quite differently, however. Whereas the former is a mechanical device, which must open and close continuously using air pressure, the advanced Piezo Jet Valve incorporates a piezoelectric actuator that converts electrical signals into highly precise motion, eliminating “wasted” mechanical motion and achieving speeds—and resulting yields—that can be some 20x faster than commonly used contact dispensing methods.
That means that if you are currently producing 100 products in a given period using an auger valve, you could bump that up to 2000 using a Piezo Jet Valve. Now that’s a big number.
Amazingly, there may even be more to the story. In many applications, operators need to slow their process down, compensating because the fast-moving contact-based valve must touch the substrate, potentially damaging higher protruding components. This concern is a thing of the past with the Piezo Jet Valve. There is no movement that can damage the product, so you can go full speed ahead without concerns.
Techcon add ons
If this is sounding pretty good so far, you’ll be glad to know there is still more. The Techcon TS9800 Piezo Jet Valve Dispensing System has improved upon the Piezo Jet Valve in a number of ways that may be valuable to you.
For example, we have made set-up far easier than any other Piezo Jet Valve out there, with a touchscreen interface that allows anyone to get outstanding results right away without a big learning curve. The Techcon Piezo Jet Valve has a smaller footprint than most devices, so you can save space in your operation, or, as needs be, integrate them into multi-functional machines a lot more easily. In addition, Techcon Piezo Jet Valves can be controlled in real-time from anywhere in the world 24/7 using any Ethernet-enabled device.
Let us run the numbers for you, free
If you want to find out more, I invite you to read our white paper on Piezo Jet Valve and how it operates.
Or, if you’re ready to talk in more detail about your needs, contact us, and let’s discuss your operation. If it seems like a good fit, we’ll have you send us a sample of your material and we’ll run some real-world tests for you to determine the increase in yields that you can expect.
Fact is, if you have a speed-sensitive, high volume, high throughput operation, and you’re looking for the highest possible yields, we may just have your number. All of them. Contact us today and let’s find out.
